Beacon, NY undoubtedly has more than its fair share of claims to fame. There’s Mount Beacon, the highest peak of the Hudson Highlands, Madam Brett Homestead, which is the oldest building in Dutchess County, and Dia Beacon, the world-class international art gallery. That’s not to mention Beacon’s bustling, buzzy, more than one-mile-long Main Street packed with one-of-a-kind shops and spots to eat and drink. But did you know Beacon is also home to Industrial Arts Brewing Company (IABC) at 511 Fishkill Avenue, the largest, state-of-the-art brewery in the Hudson Valley?
Where it all began
IABC’s founder, Jeff O’Neil, was born in Dutchess County before landing farther upstate in Binghampton. He earned his brewing chops out west in the 1990s and started working with some of the “first wave” craft breweries in California like Gordon Biersch and Drake’s. After moving back east in the early 2000s, Jeff spent 10 years with the Ithaca Beer Company before returning to the Hudson Valley to run Peekskill Brewery. The next—and inevitable—step for Jeff was to open his own brewery in 2015. Now celebrating its 10th anniversary, the award-winning IABC has a loyal client base and sells its beer in more than 17 states across the U.S.
A Name That’s A Nod to the Labor of Beermaking
Each crowd-pleasing brew is precision-crafted with modern tools and techniques that deliver around 100 barrels (3,100 gallons) of fresh, dry, hoppy beer every time.
From hazy pale ales to creamy pilsner lagers as well as modern-style lagers and special releases, you’ll notice most IABC beers have names like Wrench, Torque, Power Tools, and Hex Bolt.
Jeff explains “We love making and drinking clean, dry, hoppy beer. We spend a lot of time and money finding the best hops available on earth. The names of our beers are a nod to the usually hidden skilled labor that goes on behind the scenes, both by us and the other trades that support our work. It takes a lot of good electrical, plumbing, and carpentry work—among other disciplines— to build a nice brewery for our team to excel in.”
A One-Of-A-Kind Hudson Valley Event Destination

As if that’s not enough, there’s more to IABC than this enormous, state-of-the-art brewery. There are also two incredible spaces available for event hire—The Workshop (accommodates up to 250 people) and The Taproom (accommodates up to 60 people). Each has a postcard-worthy view of Mount Beacon, and each offers a spectacular, photogenic event backdrop. Both spaces lend themselves beautifully to wedding welcomes and special occasions of all sizes. And with an expansive outdoor seated deck and the unrivalled view of Mount Beacon, it’s an appealing and unique spot for a special event at any the time of the year.
Beacon locals who haven’t visited IABC recently will be surprised at the décor and redesign of the entire space. The Workshop is stylish and minimalist with cement floors, a large bar, ambient lighting, a centerpiece disco ball, high top tables, a main stage for live music or a DJ, and even a beautiful vintage wooden Shuffleboard table. It’s a highly adaptable space that’s as suited to wedding welcomes and large, elaborate events as it is to live bands, a film festival, or an immersive theater experience. And the smaller, more intimate Taproom lends itself perfectly to birthday parties, baby showers, community gatherings, or any other type of get-together for anywhere up to 60 people. Plus, both spaces are perfect for hosting company Holiday parties—and the good news is it’s not too late to book!
Friendly And Caring Hospitality

There’s an experienced, friendly hospitality team that will work closely with each client to make sure everything runs according to expectations. Nina Leone, the Hospitality Manager, explains that the team can refer trusted local talent to provide florals, music, photographs, and every element needed for a successful event. Plus, IABC works with local foodie favorites The Beacon Daily for catering. “Everyone here are really fun people who are easy to work with, and they really care about the level of hospitality they offer.” Depending on the scale, you can have a top-notch event planned from start to finish with as little as six weeks’ notice.
Dedicated To Its Locals
Because their beer is brewed on site, IABC can offer fresh-from-the-barrel, affordable beer. When we say affordable, we mean really affordable—a pint at IABC can cost as little as $6. Locals get an even better deal on Mondays. Nina explains, “Our locals like how accessible we are, and they love the beer and its affordability. So, on Monday nights we offer $5 pints to help everyone start the week right!”
