Second Saturday brings a fresh wave of gallery openings, artist talks, and live events across Beacon every month.
The good news—at least for art lovers—is with so much happening in one day, galleries often stagger their start times so visitors can make the rounds.
Here are just a few highlights for this weekend (Saturday, March 14th & Sunday, March 15th) in addition to Saturday’s St Patrick’s Day Parade on Main Street.

Robin Adler’s paintings and monotypes, In The Future We Can See The Past, explore how stories help us clarify who we are and where we need to go.
Bob Barry’s ceramic sculptures in The Past Future reflect humanity’s fractured relationship with the natural world.
In the Beacon Room, Susan Ziegler’s Funny Weather reflects her ongoing meditation on nature within an urban environment through a process-based practice of painting and printmaking.

Patricia Ekpo on Senga Nengudi
Lecture Saturday, March 14th, 2 PM

There’s an illustrated lecture by scholar Patricia Ekpo to mark the closing of Senga Nengudi’s stunning installations. Deploying a black-feminist methodology, Ekpo discusses Nengudi’s previously unpublished drawings, anecdotes, and poetry in relation to her sculptures and other media works in the exhibition. The lecture will take place in the Gerhard Richter gallery. The lecture is free with museum admission.
Super Secret Projects (484 Main Street, at the back of Hyperbole)
In 60 Seconds

Show ends Saturday, April 4th
Super Secret Projects opens In 60 Seconds, its latest exhibition which gathers a wide range of instant Polaroid photographs submitted by artists and community members. This show reflects the spontaneity and accessibility of instant photography.

Spaces Between Color

Spaces Between Color, a stunning group exhibition focused on the process of the traditional Japanese craft of katazome continues at Distortion Society (155 Main Street). Be sure to catch it before it closes.

Fine Art Tea Party

Show ends Sunday, April 12th
Join the Howland Cultural Center and Bannerman Castle Trust to see their current exhibition, Bannerman Island & the Mighty Hudson River, and partake in a tea party with tea, coffee, and baked goods and live music from pianist Thom McCoy & Friends.

Aggregate Strength by Erica Hauser

Beacon artist Erica Hauser recently unveiled Aggregate Strength, a selection of works at Industrial Arts Brewing Company. This collection of pieces, inspired by Mid-Century design and colors is guaranteed to brighten up the last, lingering days of winter.
A Circus Like No Other
Savage Wonder Arts Center (139 Main Street)
Savage Circus: Vaudeville Of The Absurd
When Saturday, March 14th, 6 PM to 9 PM
Savage Wonder’s Parlor will transform into a working circus environment with sword swallowers, contortionists, jugglers, musicians, and more. Woven into the performance are five 10-minute veteran authored comedies. The show runs every Saturday in March. Tickets are available here.

Who Black Coffee Blues Band
When Saturday, March 14th, from 7 PM
Join Dimitri Archip’s Black Coffee Blues Band for their Second Saturday residency at Dennings Point Distillery (10 North Chestnut Street). Sit back and enjoy some moody, raw blues classics, while sipping a craft cocktail, mocktail, or beer in this atmospheric Hudson Valley distillery, bar, and event space.
A Most Bizarre Second Saturday

Duke Comedy Theater Presents Your Bizarre Day Comedy Show
When Saturday, March 14th. Doors open 7:30 PM. Show starts at 8 PM
Duke Comedy Theater is hosting a special fundraising version of Your Bizarre Day comedy show. Every ticket and donation will go toward officially launching Duke Comedy Theater’s nonprofit and will help them secure a space to bring improv and other avenues of comedy to the community. Tickets available here.
