A tarot reading by Abbe Aronson at Witch Please (498 Main Street).
We’ve celebrated the Holidays, welcomed the New Year, and now we’re all hoping to start strong in 2026. And while New Year’s resolutions can help form healthy new habits and set ambitious goals, they don’t always have to be so serious. It’s just as important to make time for activities that uplift and enrich us. The best part about living in Beacon, New York is you don’t have to travel far to find some of these activities. So, read on if you’re looking for something new to keep your spark ignited in 2026.
Twerk like nobody’s watching
There are many reasons to take a dance class: the feelgood factor, the liberating confidence boost, and the endorphin high to name just a few. One great way to start the year is by signing up for a high energy dance class at Passion—The Adult Dance Studio (473 Main Street). Passion’s classes, which include Dance Party Fitness, Twerk It Out, Jazz Fusion, and more are designed to meet you wherever you are. The studio currently has a special offer of $49 for three classes for new students, so now’s the time if you think it might be for you.

Get your tarot cards read
A new year is a great time for self-reflection and goal setting. A tarot reader can help with both. Anyone who thinks tarot card reading is the same as fortune telling should know it’s most definitely not. Instead of predicting the future, tarot card readings can help one assess where they are and explore where they may want to be. Abbe Aronson (Cazimi Modern Tarot Readings), a tarot card reader at Witch Please (498 Main Street), explains: “The first thing I tell folks who might be interested in exploring Tarot is all you need is curiosity. Tarot, as it’s classically taught and interpreted by reputable readers, is never scary and will never throw you for a loop. If anything, it underscores what you already know or what lies just under the surface of your active, rational brain. In many ways, Tarot is a gentle invitation to welcome your intuition to the proverbial internal dialogue we all have, saying ‘Hey, tell me more!’
“I always tell new readers to make a list of 2-3 things that are paramount in their mind, and to ask themselves open-ended questions, like, ‘I know I want to make space for a new relationship; how do I best get ready for that?’ or ‘This is the year I want to get serious about my financial health. What steps can I take to be more mindful about that?’”

Plus, BMF hosts nights for students to take the stage and perform anything they’re working on in a safe, supportive environment.
