A Classic Brunch Experience
Lyonshare (246 Main Street)
Book a table here if you’re looking for a classic brunch experience for the mother who loves a touch of old school New York elegance. In addition to some traditional items, enjoy biscuits and gravy, shakshuka, or a classic French omelet. And a Hudson Mimosa, Beacon Bloody Mary, or Melio Bettina (bourbon, orange, and espresso) might be in order since it’s Mother’s Day. Typical hours for brunch are 11 AM to 3 PM.
Brunch With A View
The Roundhouse (2 East Main Street)
Few things in Beacon are better than an al fresco brunch at The Roundhouse when the weather’s warm and welcoming. The mouthwatering Roundhouse menu is made even more appetizing by spectacular views of the beautiful Fishkill Overlook Creek waterfall in all its glory. As well as the regular brunch and lunch menus, Mother’s Day specials include baked quiche with heirloom tomatoes, wild mushrooms, spinach, feta, and field green salad with a champagne vinaigrette.
Accompany it with a classic mimosa or bloody mary, or a “red eye old-fashioned” made with coffee bourbon, vicario coffee liqueur, gifford vanilla liqueur, espresso, and chocolate bitters. There’s also a grilled chicken breast dinner special.
Moms with a penchant for the great outdoors and a classy experience will love this landmark Beacon spot. Brunch is served Sundays, 10:00 AM to 3 PM and dinner is 3 PM to 8 PM.
A Little Brunchtime Music
The Towne Crier (379 Main Street)
A favorite of Beacon’s music-lovers, The Towne Crier not only offers a delicious brunch with indoor and outdoor seating (weather permitting), but its Sunday brunch is always accompanied by live music from talented jazz musicians. Expect delicious buttermilk pancakes, eggs benedict, classic burgers, or the excellent Taste of the Middle East. Served Saturdays and Sundays, 10:30 AM to 2 PM. Reservations are highly recommended since this is a popular spot.
For The Mom Who Loves A Low-Key Experience
Carters (424 Main Street)
There are two seatings for Mother’s Day brunch at Carters—12:30 PM and 3:00 PM. This hearty brunch menu is a Sunday favorite, so booking soon is recommended.
Melzingah Tap House (554 Main Street)
A perfect spot for moms who love a more casual experience. Brunch is served every Sunday from 11 AM to 3 PM. There’s plenty of shareable plates including mac & cheese, a lox platter, a cinnamon roll skillet, and a tempting burrata toast board with lioni burrata, chili-crisp chutney, pea tendril, and arugula. 23 craft beers are on tap behind the bar, as are classic and specialty cocktails and a nice assortment of wine.
Cooper’s (47 East Main Street)
Cooper’s also offers the opportunity for a low-key celebration brunch without compromising on taste. This classic upstate bar serves high quality American fare that doesn’t disappoint. Choose from a breakfast burrito with kimchee fried rice, Cooper’s Benedict, or a Coopers Croque in the style of a Croque Monsieur. Have a well-made cocktail, a wine, or a beer with brunch, and perhaps finish up with a strawberry cronut. Brunch starts at 11 AM every weekend.
Cocktails And Brunch, Please
Wonderbar (445 Main Street)
For a delicious, specialty cocktail or mocktail with brunch, head to Wonderbar. With its resplendent 1930s’ style decor, you can choose from their all-day menu or their brunch specials. It’s the perfect backdrop for Instagram-able family photos. Brunch is served weekends from noon until 3 PM.
Brunch Or Lunch?
Café Amacord (276 Main Street)
Café Amacord is a good option if your mom isn’t a huge brunch fan (yes, these people exist!). Go light with a baby arugula salad or smoked salmon dish, or indulge in linguine seafood or NY strip steak.
Brothers Trattoria (465 Main Street)
Also in the lunch rather than brunch category is Brothers Trattoria where you can choose from classic northern and southern Italian dishes and be guaranteed a friendly, family vibe. Ask to be seated in the Tuscan Dining Room if you’re a large party. Booking is essential.
Afternoon Tea, Anyone?
Moreish (207 Main Street)
If afternoon tea is mom’s penchant, head to British restaurant Moreish for an elegant, delicious afternoon tea complete with vintage china tea pots and crockery. Booking in advance is essential.
The Pandorica Restaurant (165 Main Street)
And finally, Dr-Who themed eatery, The Pandorica Restaurant, offers afternoon tea every second Sunday of the month. Fortunately, the next session happens to fall on Mother’s Day, and there’ll be an extra opportunity to book for Saturday, too. Choose from a regular British afternoon tea with delicate finger sandwiches, scones, fancy cakes with a custom blended pot of tea, or choose one that’s gluten free. There’s also Mother’s Day brunch seatings on Sunday, too.
Because May 10th will be a particularly busy Second Saturday weekend, we highly recommend booking any of these spots well in advance to get the one you want. In fact, it’s wise to do so on any weekend in Beacon.
