Closing Reception | Bright Spot Exhibition at Howland Public Library

  • Howland Public Library 313 Main Street Beacon, NY, 12508 United States (map)

The Howland Public Library invites the community to a reception for Bright Spot, an exhibition of paintings by Beacon-based artist Erica Hauser.

Hauser’s paintings interpret the play of patterns and shapes with vibrant yet earthy variations of color. “My longtime seasonal job as a firewood stacker guides my intuition as I arrange painted shapes that depend on each other for stability,” Hauser explains. Influenced by artists such as Ellsworth Kelly and Josef Albers, as well as the clean lines and organic forms of mid-century modern design, her work reflects both a love of color and a keen eye for composition.

Hauser holds a BFA from the School of Visual Arts and has exhibited widely throughout the Hudson Valley and New York City. From 2013 to 2020, she owned Catalyst Gallery in Beacon, where she curated group shows and hosted events. She has also participated in projects such as ArtStream Kingston, Terrain Biennial Newburgh, and Beacon 3D, and has received grants from Arts Mid-Hudson and Awesome Newburgh to support her creative work.

Stop by the library to view Bright Spot one last time and meet the artist during this special closing event. The reception is free and open to the public.
