10 Mother’s Day Brunch Spots in Beacon

Something bubbly to celebrate Mother’s Day, perhaps? (Wonderbar, 445 Main Street)

With Mother’s Day just around the corner (Sunday, May 11th), it’s time to make plans for the big day, if you’re celebrating. The good news is there’s plenty of delicious spots in Beacon to have a Mother’s Day brunch, whether it’s an intimate table for two or a family gathering of 10. That said, don’t take getting a table at your favorite place for granted without booking it. You won’t be the only one with the same idea, so be sure to make a reservation well in advance.

Beacon eateries have something for everyone. So, depending on your nearest and dearest’s preferences (and yes, this is about her, not you!), you’ll want to choose carefully. Here’s our thoughts on matching mom with the perfect brunch experience.

A little brunchtime music

The Towne Crier (379 Main Street)—a favorite of Hudson Valley music-lovers—not only offers a delicious brunch with indoor and outdoor seating (weather permitting), but its Sunday brunch is also always accompanied by live music from talented jazz musicians. Expect delicious buttermilk pancakes, eggs benedict, classic burgers, or the excellent Taste of the Middle East. Served Saturdays and Sundays, 10:30 AM to 2 PM. Reservations are highly recommended as this is a popular spot.

A classic brunch experience

Book a table at Lyonshare (246 Main Street) if you’re looking for a classic brunch experience for a mama who likes a touch of old school elegance. In addition to some traditional items, enjoy biscuits and gravy, Turkish eggs with sumac yogurt and walnut gremolata, or a classic French omelet. And since it’s Mother’s Day, a Hudson Mimosa, Beacon Bloody Mary, or Melio Bettina (bourbon, orange, and espresso) might be in order. Typical hours for brunch are 11 AM to 3 PM.

Carters (424 Main Street) hearty brunch menu is a Sunday favorite, served from 11 AM to 4 PM. Offerings include “Eggs Benny,” with crispy prosciutto, spiced ranch hollandaise, and potatoes. There’s also buttermilk fried chicken and waffles, banana Nutella pancakes, steak and eggs, and much more.

Brunch with a view

The Roundhouse Restaurant, 2 East Main Street.

It’s hard to beat an al fresco brunch at The Roundhouse (2 East Main Street) if the weather’s good. The mouthwatering Roundhouse menu is made even more appetizing by spectacular views of the beautiful Fishkill Overlook Creek waterfall in all its glory. Brunch entrées include lump crab meat eggs benedict, Catsmo smoked salmon omelet, skillet frittata, and other delicious dishes. Accompany it with a classic mimosa or a “red eye old-fashioned” made with Ragtime rye, Springbrook coffee liqueur, Giffard vanilla liqueur, and orange bitters. Moms with a penchant for the great outdoors and a classy experience will love this landmark Beacon spot. Brunch is served Sundays, 11:30 AM to 3 PM.

For the low-key mom

Melzingah Tap House (554 Main Street) serves brunch every Sunday from 11 AM to 3 PM. There’s plenty of shareable plates including mac & cheese, a lox platter, a cinnamon roll skillet, and a tempting burrata toast board with lioni burrata, chili-crisp chutney, pea tendril, and arugula. 23 craft beers are on tap behind the bar, as are classic and specialty cocktails and a nice assortment of wine. Perfect for moms who love a more casual experience.

Cooper’s Beacon, 47 East Main Street.

Cooper’s Beacon (47 East Main Street) also offers the opportunity for a low-key celebration brunch without compromising on taste. This classic upstate bar serves high quality American fare that doesn’t disappoint. Choose from a breakfast burrito with kimchee fried rice, Cooper’s Benedict, or a Coopers Croque in the style of a Croque Monsieur. Have a well-made cocktail, a wine, or a beer with brunch, and perhaps finish up with a strawberry cronut. Brunch starts at 11 AM every weekend.

Cocktails and brunch, please

For a delicious, specialty cocktail, mocktail, or sparkling rosé with brunch, head to Wonderbar (445 Main Street). With its resplendent 1930s’ style decor, you can choose from their all-day menu or their brunch specials. It’s the perfect backdrop for Instagram-able family photos. Brunch is served weekends from noon until 3 PM.

Brunch or lunch?

Café Amacord, 276 Main Street.

We highly recommend lunch at Café Amacord (276 Main Street) if your mom isn’t a huge brunch fan (yes, these people exist!). It’s offering a special Mother’s Day menu this year, starting at noon and available until 8 PM. Go light with a baby arugula salad or smoked salmon dish or indulge in linguine seafood or NY strip steak.

Also, in the lunch rather than brunch category is Brothers Trattoria (465 Main Street) where you can choose from classic northern and southern Italian dishes and be guaranteed a friendly, family vibe. Ask to be seated in the Tuscan Dining Room if you’re a large party. Booking is essential.

Afternoon tea, anyone?

And finally, Dr-Who themed eatery, The Pandorica Restaurant (165 Main Street), offers afternoon tea every second Sunday. Fortunately, the next afternoon tea happens to fall on Mother’s Day. Choose from a regular British afternoon tea with delicate finger sandwiches, scones, fancy cakes and a custom blended pot of tea, or choose one that’s gluten free.

With May 11th being a particularly busy weekend, we highly recommend booking any of these spots well in advance to get the one you want. In fact, it’s wise to do so on any weekend.
