An Essential Guide to Beacon, NY
Shelley Simmons-Bloom created The Beacon Beacon to help shine a light on all good things happening here in Beacon, NY. It’s a visual and comprehensive guide to the abundance of one-of-a-kind independent shops and businesses, eateries, things to do, and places to stay in Beacon, New York. It’s also a platform for sharing recommendations and interviews with some of the city’s most innovative creators, artists, business owners, and community leaders.
MORE ABOUT US
Shelley has enjoyed a 20-year+ career with global cosmetics brands at a senior level in retail, branding, and communications. She’s led international teams in 40+ countries and know’s how to tell an upbeat, good news story. She also know how essential it is for a business owner to make every marketing dollar work.
Her friends will tell you she’s also a wannabe shop owner who always wanted to open her own store. She was never quite brave enough so this is her contribution to those who have! She’s The Beacon Beacon’s content strategist, lead writer, photographer, social media savant, and business development contact. Phew!
Shelley’s also a volunteer fundraiser for the Animal Rescue Foundation’s (ARF Beacon) 5K Run & Walk With the Dogs, and every April you’ll find her at Beacon’s annual Earth Day Community Clean Up.
The Beacon Beacon wouldn’t exist without the incredible work of Stacie Merrill, who created its branding and web design. Stacie is an Emmy-Award winning designer and art director with a 25-year career designing primarily for network tv and the beauty industry. Locally, she has worked with food magazines like Edible Hudson Valley and The Valley Table.
She loves collaborating with Beacon businesses to help shape their brands and marketing. She has volunteered her services to local organizations like Wee Play Project, Common Ground Farm, Hudson Valley Seed and the Beacon City School District.
Finally, author Matt Bloom is a passionate foodie, curious mind, and contributing feature writer, editor, and Shelley’s other half.
Teamwork makes the dreamwork, as they say!
