A Ridiculously Easy New Way to Explore What’s On In Beacon
A sunset performance at Beacon Open Studios.
Whether you’re a Beaconite or just in town for the weekend, we all know it can be tough to stay on top of the multitude of events happening in our buzzing small city. Sure, you can spend hours scrolling through endless Instagram and Facebook feeds or wading through the websites of every event venue just to piece together a night out. But it shouldn’t be so hard. That’s why we’ve just launched The Beacon Beacon Events Hub—a hyperlocal, mobile-first WhatsApp channel dedicated to Beacon, NY.
Tell Me More
Astonishingly, 100 million people in the U.S. are now on WhatsApp. And while the popular app is best known for group chats, international calling, and small community hubs, it also has a thriving “channel” platform.
So, alongside the New York Times (10 million followers), The Atlantic (1.5 million followers), and Netflix (32.2 million followers), as well as a myriad of other media platforms, you’ll now find our humble, hyperlocal TBB Event Hub channel.
According to our research, it’s possibly the first of its kind in the Hudson Valley, if not even further afield. But tell us if we’re wrong. Designed to be free, user-friendly, and essential, TBB Events Hub is an event-lover’s one-stop shop for things to do across Beacon’s vibrant music, performance, art, festivals, and entertainment scene.
Here's How It Works
The Beacon Beacon Events Hub just launched on WhatsApp.
Anyone can follow the channel for free here. Once you’re in, you can turn on notifications to get news of the latest events in Beacon when they drop. Or, if it’s too much information, turn off notifications and check in when it suits you. You’ll always find the channel in the “Updates” tab once you’re a follower.
Known for its end-to-end encryption, WhatsApp is one of the most secure forms of communication there is. There’s no public visibility of your data, which means no one can see who’s following the channel and there’s no opportunity for spam, data scraping, or harvesting. This clean, safe, one-way flow of information allows you to share an event you’re interested in with friends, to react, or copy and share wherever you want.
Plus, if it’s a ticketed event, we’ll include the link so you can purchase tickets without having to go to a “link in bio.” You can view up to 30 days’ worth of events once you’ve subscribed. Need to refer to an event you saw but can’t remember the details? Just open TBB Events Hub and it’ll be there. Your very own pocket-primed, one-stop-events-shop.
Posting is Free for Artists, Performers, And Producers
And be sure to take advantage of the channel for free if you’re an artist, performer, or producer putting on an event in Beacon. Just email hello@thebeaconbeaconny.com, and we’ll send you the simple scope of what we need to promote your events. Most event promotions will go live the same day, and certainly within 48 hours.
So, again:
Step 1: Find TBB Event Hub here
Step 2: Follow the channel
Step 3: Interested in an event? Share with a friend on WhatsApp, copy the link and share it elsewhere, or buy tickets via the link. Like it with an emoji so it’s easy to re-discover if you come back to it later.
If you find yourself loving the channel so much you’d like to share it with friends, there’s a shareable link in the channel info page. Just hit the logo at the top of the page. And with all the time you’ll have saved researching things to do in Beacon, NY, you can read a book or see a movie instead.
Finally, if you prefer longer range planning or to learn more about an event before making a final decision, be sure to bookmark our Events Guide on the website where you’ll find event descriptions and the fine print.
