Seasoned improv producer, director, and performer, Don Romaniello brings his thought-provoking brand of improv, which reinvents the often-goofy acting form as high art, to Beacon’s newest stage, the cabaret-esque St. Rita’s Music Room. Named for a figure in Greek mythology (as is Don’s Beacon, NY improv school, Prometheus Studios), in addition to Don, Tantalus will feature a cast of experienced improvisers, including Jaime Fallon, Maya Gottfried, David Schwartz, Amalia Truglio, Halle Sarner, Jonathan Connolly, and Alec Vanacore.
Tantalus was a figure in Greek mythology, punished eternally in the underworld for his crimes against the gods, sharing their divine food with mortals. His punishment — standing in a pool of water with fruit overhead that he could never reach — is the origin of the word "tantalize" and symbolizes eternal, frustrated longing. Tickets in link below.
