The opening reception of Tod Bryant’s show which runs until Sunday, July 19th.
This series of portraits of skilled historic preservation craftspeople is a tribute to their dedication and the passion that they bring to their work.
It is a way to present the people who have dedicated their lives to a mastering specific craft or trade – a skill – that few possess, in a dignified and personal way. These women and men usually labor in the shadows of better-known professions, but without them nothing happens. They are the heart and soul of historic preservation. Nobody gets rich doing what they do. They do it because they are born to the task. Some of them are descended from families who have been plying their trades for generations, but many have felt an individual calling to do what they do.
