Just two miles south of Beacon, in Dutchess Junction, Jewish progressives and Communist sympathizers gathered each summer at Camp Nitgedaiget (pronounced Nish-guh-die-get.) Operational from 1922 until the early 1950s, it accommodated up to 1,000 patrons daily. This new exhibition explores what brought them back year after year. The Beacon Historical Society is open Thursdays 10 AM to Noon and Saturdays 1 PM to 3 PM. The exhibition runs through to November.
